Harrogate
Lockdown had eased enough to travel, so we had a meeting in York followed
by a night in Harrogate on our 26th anniversary. It was our first time and we were very impressed
with the town, and its beautiful neighbour Knaresborough. The wired-up busker at Kings Cross was
social-distancing in a highly lucrative manner!
On the way back, a signal failure stopped us in Peterborough, and rather than risking an all-night wait,
we booked a local hotel and saw their lovely cathedral and town square. I'm not quite sure why it
was voted the most boring town in Britain - we found it quite pleasant - although the 'rush-hour' to
London the next morning had its entire youthful population heading to town to get drunk.
