Homeward bound, we drove through Italy from East to West. Starting with the fishing port of Muggia on the Slovenian border, we stayed in a hilltop above Vicenza, had meetings in Milan, then the beautiful Lido Palace on Lake Maggiore, where Churchill honeymooned and the Pope and Queen Mum have stayed - poossibly the best view we have ever had. After that, a break in the German spa town of Baden-Baden. The last night was a weird last-minute B&B in the Belgian countryside - clearly Peter Stringfellow's country pad.
